About me

I'm Carly Severn, the titular Teacup in the Bay: a Brit based in San Francisco, California since 2011. Here I write about the arts, digital communications, not-so-popular culture and more besides.

I work in social media for KQED (NPR and PBS' affiliate in San Francisco), spreading the word about public media online. I also write sometimes for KQED too — take a look at my stuff here. Before that, I worked at San Francisco Ballet (not dancing) and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, U.K. (Here's me on LinkedIn.) Feel free to come and talk to me about any of this stuff or — even better! — horror movies, learning to climb, pizza-making techniques, 17th century British history and books in general on Twitter, where I'm @TeacupInTheBay.

PS. If you came here looking for for my beauty blog, or are just curious why I wear my hats and headscarves, then pop over to EyelineHer!

  1. Wasn't sure where to email you from the KQED page (about Stranger Things) ... just wanted to say thanks for writing the article/review. I think you and I see it along the same lines ... I'm just not good at explaining myself. :) Hard to be one of the few that can see that the Emperor isn't actually wearing pants ... :)

  2. My partner and I think you are so beautiful. In fact, we thought you were a Vogue model. We appreciate that you write about the arts and culture.

  3. Carly Severn, You might be interested in reading what the rather famous psychic Sylvia Browne (who lived in San Jose) wrote about her experiences with the house...and the deceased loyal staff who remained at the house after Sarah 's...and their own, deaths. According to Sylvia, Sarah was happy on the Other Side., but at least two staff remained at the house after their deaths.
